Maui moving checklist: what to do 8 weeks before the move
1. Go through all your belongings and decide what to keep and what to sell or donate. Moving is the perfect occasion to get rid of unnecessary clutter.
2. Start looking for a
moving company on Maui. Do your research thoroughly and make sure you hire a moving team that's licensed, insured, has a top notch reputation and enough experience. Two months in advance is plenty of time to find someone reliable.
3. Do you have kids? Make sure you find a great school for them in your new district and arrange for their records to be transferred.
4. Create a list, a binder or even a simple Excel document on your hard drive to keep track of everything.
What do to 4 weeks in advance
1. Request some time off work for the move. You're gonna need it.
2. Measure the rooms in your new home. You'll need a plan to fit in your old furniture into your new place and let the movers know about it.
3. Order boxes, bubble wrap and other supplies and start packing your most fragile or valuable items in advance. Don't forget to pack all your important documents and label them accordingly.
4. Begin packing your other belongings as well and make sure to label everything correctly. Update your Maui moving checklist while you do that.
5. Update your mailing address, forward your medical records to your new healthcare providers and notify your bank, insurance company, credit card company of the move and make sure to let the utility companies, loan companies and your employer know you're moving.

1. Confirm with your moving company that the move will go according to plan. Keep an eye on the weather channel and discuss a backup plan with your movers in case of really bad weather.
2. Designate a box for the essentials and make sure you pack everything you'll need for the first day in your new home: a change of fresh clothes, your toothbrush, etc. You're gonna need to have your essential items handy before you unpack.
Taking care of the last details before and on moving day
1. Check to see if you left anything behind. Make sure there's nothing stuck in between your old shelves or in the closet.
2. Take photos of the old place so you'll have proof you've left it in pristine condition.
3. Make sure the
moving team that show up on moving day is the team you've hired. Confirm the directions to your home and make sure you have a way to keep in touch with your movers during the relocation process.
